World Wide Web is full of success stories where someone started off from a garage (e.g. Apple) or a dorm room (e.g. Facebook) and went on to become a huge success.
There’s no doubt that Internet has proved to be a boon for entrepreneurs, before its advent, someone with a business idea has to wait for a long time before he/she was able to give it a try, but thanks to Internet, you can now try almost any idea online without having to invest a lot of money.
Then there’s a plethora of work-from-home jobs coming out in the job market, or anybody who’s an expert at a particular topic can start blogging and earn good enough income while working from home.
Doesn’t matter if you are working from home or an office, your working environment can make a huge difference?
Therefore it is imperative that anybody looking to work from home should get himself a separate room for working.
Don’t try to take up and carry out a home-based job or business from a makeshift setting from your lounge or living room because you will fail to perform at your optimal level.
You can look around and choose some unused space (e.g. the good old garage) but if that’s not available you will have to think out of the box, for example investing in a loft conversion.
Rest assured it will prove to be a perfect workplace for more than one reasons, let’s have a look at some of these reasons.
Set it up like a proper office
As I said, giving yourself a proper working environment is important, and it’s hard to have that environment with household surroundings and some of your family members strolling around you all the time.
It can turn disastrous for your job or business especially when you are in a video conference with some of your client or employers.
Having set up a proper office in your loft can give you the seclusion, privacy, and peace to focus on your work.
Work Life Balance
It’s true that working from home will let you give more time to your family but you will be facing a new type of work-life balance challenge.
When you are working in an office, the balance tends to tilt towards the work, as you spend 8 to 9 hours in the office and more than an hour in traveling.
You will find your job taking up the bigger part of your daytime.
In contrast, when working from home the balance will tilt towards your family life, you will find yourself doing the routine chores and getting a little too comfy to work properly.
Having a separate office in your loft will let you focus and work without an interruption.
Get the much needed Privacy
If you have got a big family, you will find it hard to have the privacy needed for any kind of job. Nobody likes when they are working on their PC and someone stand on their back and keep nagging.
Not to forget, having your PC, laptop, or documents in open is risky; especially when you have kids in your family.
Having a separate office in loft that you can lock will keep your work equipment and documents protected.
Have Visitors or Assistants
When you are running an online business, you can still be having some visitors every once in a while, for example some of your clients who are insisting on meeting-up or maybe a potential partner.
In this case, having a proper office in your loft will give a much better impression than having them sit in a drawing room and placing your laptop on dining table to have a talk.
Also, you might need to hire some assistants as the business grows.
Save yourself from the hassle of moving out
As earlier mentioned, many businesses started from a single room and went on to become a company with hundreds of employees.
You might not grow into a company as big as Facebook or Apple, but there’s always a chance that your business will expand, and you will need some assistants.
Having your loft space available for a small office will save you from the need (and hassles) of moving out and renting a commercial office.
You will be able to accommodate some staff and equipment in your loft and have ample time to plan your next move without hurrying.
